Daily Links

Things have been slow because of the holidays. I should be posting again in full force starting tonight/tomorrow. Here are a bunch of awesome links, enjoy, and hope you all had a happy turkey day. Thanks to Joe from JoeBlog for help with the new design to the site. What do you all think of the change?

  • At least 20,000 U.S. troops who were not classified as wounded during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan have been found with signs of brain injuries, according to military and veterans records compiled by USA TODAY. Source (Crooks and Liars)
  • Bryan Berg, cardstacker extraordinaire, tries to take down his world-record setting card tower with a leafblower. But it's made up of so many damn cards he barely puts a dent in it before the blower flames out. So he resorts to the most destructive tools around: his hands, crushing himself in a sweet avalanche of cards after a couple minutes of pawing that reminds us of New Year's in Times Square in more ways than one. • The first new album from the Eagles in over a decade, "Long Road Out of Eden," has already sold more than a million copies, hitting Billboard's #1 in its first week. It's the kind of blockbuster that used to pay Christmas bonuses at the big record companies, only this album wasn't produced by a big record company. The Eagles released it themselves and are selling it exclusively through Wal-Mart. Source (Opinion Journal)

I'm told this is old, I don't watch Saturday Night Live anymore. But my friends told me about it recently and I found it hysterical. People Getting Punched Just Before Eating

WGA Strike Video That Makes You Feel Warm And Fuzzy

This video is too hysterical. The face of the TV executive was too funny, as was the choice in song and the synchronized singing/swaying on the picket line. Two thumbs up!

The BBC is reporting that JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, is offering a rare opportunity for fans of the book to land a role in the new cinematic installation, Harry Potter The Half-Blood Prince.

The contest, hosted by MSN, will consist of answering questions posted on MSN's website about the Harry Potter series. A question will be submitted every week from now until December 20th, when a winner will be chosen.

Unfortunately for us in the US, the contest is only available for contestants in the UK.

Don't Give Up On Vista Web Ad

The Mac vs. PC commercials are finally starting to be funny. Up until now they've been mediocre at best, I've never really cared for the commercials, I thought they were 2nd-rate writing, but what do you really need for a short commercial.

However, the tides have finally changed. Apple is starting to kick it up a notch on the anti-Vista rhetoric and it's becoming increasingly humorous. Whether it be because Apple hired some witty writers or Microsoft's failure is just that massive that the world is laughing at their efforts to recover from failure that was the release of Vista.

My roommate and I saw a commercial during primetime the other night, where PC was arguing against people switching back to XP, as blatently paid to do so by his company, and then admits that he himself switched back to XP 2 weeks ago. It had us both on the floor.

Good job Apple.
